Why do American girls wear sandals during the winter?

I dont understand why I see girls during the winter wearing layers of clothes but only thong sandals on their feet. Aren't snadals for the summer? Is this an american thing or just a stupid thing?

Why do American girls wear sandals during the winter?
Any American girl that is wearing thong sandals in the winter is either a complete dumbas* or she lives in a trailer park and takes too many drugs.
Reply:I'm lazy, and i don't doubt that some other people who wear them are too
Reply:I wear mines in the summer and winter. I wear them year round.

But I live in California so ya.
Reply:Cause they are cute, come in many styles, you can put them on and take them of quickly, and who doesn't like that Flip Flop sound you get when you walk in them :) ? Also in some parts of America it doesn't get very cold durring the winter, some parts are usually in the 60's - 70's. It might just be an American thing.
Reply:whatevvvv probably they dont feel cold on their feet and if they do....i agree with you that they are jus freeks ...not only americans , though, my friend...
Reply:it all depends on where at vegas LA Florida Haiwi its ok but when ther is snow and ice on the ground its just really stupid
Reply:Most girls wear them because they are easy to take on and off.
Reply:Cause it's so damn easy!!!!
Reply:Why do the rest of you care? Sure, it's icy; maybe we miss summer? Oh yes, it's freezing, but shoes are bothersome, and it's so nice to defy winter sometimes, no? Feet get the winter blues too! Flip flops are just fun and irresistible, even if the weatherman calls for cloudy skies and icy roads.
Reply:ha, i know!

i live in Cali and sandals/flip flops are like worn everywhere!

yea, its the trend and we also wear those ugg boots like in any season as well.

its both american %26amp; stupid, idk.

yea, and the whole layering thing happens during summer, well thats what my frends do...idk its weird.
Reply:I too live in Cali and see it all the time.

People should really cover-up their ugly feet whenever possible....please.
Reply:I live in a warm environment now, but I used to wear flip-flops in winter snow when I was in high school. It's simple really--I hate shoes. Hate the confining feel of them, hate the way your feet sweat, hate everything about them really. Eventually, I got a clue and moved somewhere tropical.

I'm not sure how common that reason is. . .but it's mine.
Reply:yes it is a stupid thing but it is the style to freeze your feet why i do not know
Reply:its a trend.

however, i wear sandals in the winter because my feet are always hot. Also, I tend to misplace my tennis shoes.
Reply:I see guys doing the same thing. They are trying to follow a fashion trend that truly is impractical. They are too ignorant to realize that they risk getting sick if any body part gets too cold. They must be senseless, since thier feet must hurt being that cold.

Fortunately, I didn't see anybody walking in the 11 degree weather this morning wearing foot thongs.
Reply:Ha ha its both. most of the time, Americans can be stupid about deciding on shoes. i see my friends walk outside in snow in HOUSE SLIPPERS! me, i wear furry boots, or leather boots. its okay to be fashionable AND warm at the same time! ha ha honestly i think winter outfits look better with a warmer shoe. it ties the outfit together as one piece!
Reply:It's just so fast and easy to slip on a pair.
Reply:lol :) Ive had some people say things at stores, but let them think what they want...

If most american girls are like me they do it because...

They have ingrown toenails lol.....

I have bad ones that I need fixed and cant put on shoes so the sandles are always on hehehe I know I am gross :)

We arent dumb, its cool :)
Reply:Its cute and comfy and your feet dont get all sweaty...eww
Reply:It's the Land of the Free and fads come and go. It use to be tennis shoes without socks. Silly to some but this is America!
Reply:What makes you think this only happens in America? I am living in Australia and they do it here too...
