Is it better to have sandals a bit too big or a bit too small to where your heel hangs slightly off the back?

I bought a pair of sandals in the larger size and there is some space from my heel to the back of the shoe. With the smaller size, my foot covered the whole shoe and went a tiny bit past the heel. What is more acceptable by people who pay attention to shoes - space or hanging off the heel?

Too big is better as your foot is supported entirely that way.
Reply:you are suppose to buy sandals a half a size bigger than you mormal shoes size if you have wide or fat feet then you would want to buy 1 size bigger
Reply:It is better to have them too big....it's really noticable when they are too small and besides that your feet will end up hurting.

Reply:Bigger is definitley better. Women look really tacky when their heels and toes are hanging over their shoes. It just makes their feet look bigger!

Reply:I'd say it is better to have the sandal a little bit to big. People wont notice a space as much as they would your heel hanging off the back of the sandal if it is too small. Trust this from a person who can never find shoes that fit.

If it's a fitted sandal, like something strappy, or with a heel, or even espadrilles, the closest fit is the best. Why? Because it's a more 'fitted' sandal, therefore a good fit is appropriate.





OTOH, if they're flip flops, say Old Navy's or Rainbows, then bigger is definitely o.k. It suits the more relaxed style. Too close a fit, and they appear to be too small.

Reply:good call with a bit of space on the back. few things are more unnattractive than some heel (often cracked, lol) bulging off the back and picking up dirt from the streets.

Reply:It looks REALLY STUPID when peoples shoes are small... Trust me it has happened to me once. I would get them a size bigger or find a different shoe that you like... but good luck
