Has anyone been to the Montego Bay Sandals resort?

My husband and I are planning this trip in May and I'm curious for any feedback in general about the Sandals resorts. Thanks.

Has anyone been to the Montego Bay Sandals resort?
I have also been to all the Sandals Resorts. The one in Mo Bay is only feet away from the airport. So if the noise of air traffic annoys you, you will not be pleased. In fact there is a tradition on property, everytime you hear a plane take off you will see the staff wave goodbye. This was started by Butch Stewart's wife (the CEO of Sandals). She figured that every plane that left MoBay had a least one Sandals guest on it, and if they were looking down, she wanted them to see the staff wish them farewell.

The MoBay property is the "original Sandals property". It has a beach house atmosphere and is very laid back. It has a very laid back enviroment. It is close to the "hip strip" which is where Jimmy Buffet's Maragritaville is, (with the scarry waterslide I have ever been on).

Jamaica is a third world country. I would not go any where near Kingston where a lot of civil unrest has been reported. Jamaica receives a majoritiy of its reveune from tourism and they like that reveune and want to keep it coming. I have brought my children there and have sent numerous people there without incident. As with any destination you must be cautious when you travel.

Have a wonderful vacation.
Reply:Yes, my husband and I were married there in November. Our wedding was wonderful and our room was nice but I would recommend a different Sandals resort.

The pools are old and small. They were renovating 2 of the restaurants while we were there, so only 2 were open. The resort is right next to the airport, the planes didn't bother us but I understand where it could be bothersome. Also, there were locals on little rafts in the water trying to sell you stuff (they can be annoying).

I would recommend switching to another Sandals.
Reply:You can check this resort out at TripAdvisor.com and read dozens of trip reports written by previous visitors. Just type in the resort name in the search area. You can also view "candid traveler photos" in that section and then ask questions in the "forums" section. You can also read the amenities the resort offers, find what other attractions the area offers, and more at that website. I found it an amazing resource while planning our Jamaican trip last July. It helped make a "surprise free" trip for us.
Reply:if you haven't already booked you might want to try Sandals in either St. Lucia or Bahamas. these islands are safer.
Reply:Been to them all, I am a travel agent.

That one is located right next to the runway for the aiport and it is noisy, also Montego is not a pretty area. My favorite was the Sandals Dunn River. The nicest Sandals is in St Lucia, but further to travel and also more expensive, You will have a nice time at Sandals Dunn River in Jamaica
