If they see you wearing socks w/ sandals on Miami beaches, was it true that they'll beat you up?

Couple guys I met at my hotel work (in Washington, DC area) who said they're from around Miami mentioned that when they saw me in socks and sandals. Something about Miamians believing in bare feet. I'm not sure about everyone else but I know it's a common trend among Asians.

If they see you wearing socks w/ sandals on Miami beaches, was it true that they'll beat you up?
I personally don't think it looks particularly good either, but everyone should be able to wear whatever they want. I sure hope they won't go as far as beat you up for it!
Reply:dont say that man here on yahoo...people will be scared! that is not true, you are a liar... Report It

Reply:British people wear socks with sandals and I have seen it in many parts of the world. Why should people in Miami care what people wear on their feet? Are they a State of foot fetishists?
Reply:Damn! All these years i thought this was a free country!
Reply:No it's not true, they are not just going to beat you up for wearing that. They may notice you are a tourist and you may get robbed. Miami isn't the place to stick out as a tourist. I lived there and it's was a wonderful place to live, you just really need to watch your back. I would say don't wear them only because you don't want to stick out. But the chances of getting beat up for it are pretty slim.
Reply:Sorry but i think sock and sandals are a no no.
Reply:why on earth would you wear socks with sandals? doesnt it defeat the purpose? Plus it looks so odd. And nobody would beat you up unless they are maniacs anyway. But then again...there probably are alot of maniacs in miami. So it might be true...
