Help! Where should my single wedding guests stay in Antigua. We're staying at Sandals!?

My fiance and I are getting married on Valentine's Day 2008 at Sandal's Grande Resort %26amp; Spa in Antigua. One problem...It's a couples resort! I tried the sneaky route by trying to book my single same sex friends as "roommate" couples, but the resort caught on! Plus, My mother is single, and I don't want her to feel like we banished her to another part of the island because she doesn't have a significant other. I would like my guests to be able to stay somewhere close, but all inclusive as well. I'm currently working with Groople Group Travel, but it doesn't look good. Any advice?

If you got married at the Antigua Sandals...where did your guests stay?

Last but not least, any way around that wedding day pass thing if your guests aren't "allowed" to stay at Sandal's?

My husband and I were married in Antigua. We had initially booked at Sandals and ended up cancelling our reservation for all the reasons you just mentioned.

Our wedding guests and ourselves ended up staying in the villas at Jolly Harbour and that's where we were married. It was lovely and all our guests really enjoyed themselves. We now stay at Jolly Harbour anytime we head down to Antigua.

However, if you want to stick with Sandals there are plenty of other resorts in the Dickenson Bay area. The following link may help you locate a nearby resort: http://www.antiguanice.com/maps/antigua/...

Maybe Siboney Beach?

One other thing you might consider is staying with your guests and conducting your wedding at a resort that isn't couples only. Then you and your then husband could move over to Sandals for your honeymoon.

I hope it works out. Antigua is a beautiful place to have your wedding!!
Reply:Your guests would be very uncomfortable at Sandals. It's all set up for couples. And the other couples there would not appreciate having to deal with your guests, who are not there for the same reason they are. There are lots of hotels on Antigua. Just do your ceremony and all of your activities away from Sandals until your actual honeymoon starts. Their ceremony is not designed for outside guests.

Reply:Beaches is the same company/setup as Sandals but you can have singles and famlies there.
Reply:Is it too late to change the resort you're staying at? Sandals is a couples-only resort and even if you could get your single friends in there, this would be unfair to other guests staying at the resort. Beaches is another option - it's connected with Sandals but singles and families can stay there as well. There are also plenty of airfare/resort type planners (Sunquest, Go Travel Direct, etc) that you can go through and it's easy to find something that will allow singles there.

If you can't change the resort, unfortunately I don't think there's any way around getting guests inside. I don't think they let outside people spend time on resort property.
