Why do old ladies insist on wearing sandals?

Why oh why oh why, do lovely old ladies insist on showing us their feet?...let's face it,these feet have seen better days so why wear sandals that show the marks of time?NO to knarled toes! No to that peep hole at the front of the shoe! we don't wanna see em.Wear those fluffy boots with the zip up the front if you must,but please,I beg you,keep em covered up!

Why do old ladies insist on wearing sandals?
They are comfortable,and let the air ventilate around their feet.plus their bunions,corns can bulge out the sides.instant relief to them.When people get older they shrink and develop a hump,so they are not going to walk around in high heels.comfort is the name of the game.You have to remember as well,these golden oldies walk for miles and miles every day,to shops markets and places of interest.The comfort sandals last a good 20 years thus saving money.makes sense.
Reply:After all the years of wearing shoes all of the time, at some time your feet just feel better in sandals. I'm not that old and I already would prefer to go barefoot the rest of my life.

Reply:Almost always, I'm sure, it's because they have developed foot problems as they grow older ... so they're wearing whatever feels most comfortable so they can still walk. I bet that, when you and I are old-old, we'll be doing similar stuff to accommodate whatever has "fallen apart" on us. Like some of the other answerers said -- just don't look if it bothers you ... they're doing the best they can.

No-one has pretty feet but surely you must respect elderly feet that have held their owner up, walked, run %26amp; danced for them for 80years or so.

Reply:as an experienced carer, this is easy, as you get older, you retain alot more water, which goes straight to the feet and legs, shoes can be extremely painful as your feet swell during the day, sandals allow a bit more flexibility, plus they are sometimes easier to put on for a patient as most sandals have a Velcro strap, which also allows the patient to loosen the sandal or tighten them depending on how much their feet are swelling. boring answer but is true. if you don't like it, just look at their faces, is rude to keep looking at someones' feet, lol. just don't look cos you seem to know what to expect.

Reply:Ok man, I am not old (only 26) but when I do get old let me tell you I will be wearing anything that is comfortable. Don't you get it, when you get old you don't give a crap about what people think about you anymore. That is for the young people like us.

Reply:If your feet were gnarled and full of bunions, arthritis and nail fungus you'd be more comfy in sandals too.

Reply:I agree with some people. When old people tend to get old lol their feet tend to swell up if they have gout and things like that. It makes it easier for them to get around.





Also they tend not to be able to bend down so all they need to do is slip their feet in to them.





Give them a break, they been on this planet for a long time, they deserve to be able to do what they want
Reply:I agree, my mother has feet rougher than a badgers @rse. It's my sister I feel sorry for. She has to cut the old rhino horn toenails of hers. I shudder like Sideshow Bob even thinking about it.
