When I wear Birkenstock and similar sandals, the skin on my heels crack and bleed. Why?

I love to wear sandals like birknstocks, but notice after wearing them for more than a week, the skin on my heels dries out, splits and bleeds- Why does this happen? I love wearing them in the summer- but thery are ripping the hell out of my heels- is this a common problem?Anything I can put on my heels for protection?

because they are made of leather, leather soaks the moisture from your skin. Leaving them dry and then they will crack. Get Gold Bonds medicated foot powder/cream...use the cream after showers, then put the powder on before wearing your shoes. It will put powder on the soles of the shoes, and the leather will soak up the powder before it attacks your skin.
Reply:You have two options:

1. Stop wearing them.

2. Deal with it.
