Has anyone been to the Sandals or Couples Swept Away in negril, Jamaica?

My fiancee and I want to got to Jamaica and stay at the Sandals there in Negril. I was wondering if anyone has ever been there?? If so please tell me about it. I have read it rains there a lot in October. I was wondering are there any other nice all inclusive hotels they can be in US or out of the US.

Has anyone been to the Sandals or Couples Swept Away in negril, Jamaica?
I have been to Sandals Negril, but only drove up to Couples to pick up/drop off some people when I did an excusion. However, my massage therapist went to Couples with his wife. I loooved Sandals and my massage therapist loooved Couples. They are both great, and the beaches in Negril are AMAZING!!! You just can't beat the sunsets there. I went to Ocho Rios and was really dissapointed in them and the beaches there....so Negril is a good choice. I also really like all-inclusives, so if you don't like this type of thing...then I wouldn't recommend either. For me though, I like not having to worry about things and just relax!!!

Sandals is having over 40% off Sandals Negril (and many others) right now, so it's a good time to book. I'm not sure about Couples.

Sandals Negril also has the brand new Ocean's Edge River suites....take a look at those if you really want to splurge.

As for the rain, if you look at weather.com's averages for Negril, October is the rainiest month of the year with an average of 7.4". As mentioned by someone else, it's near the end of hurricane season.

Take a look at tripadvisor.com at the reviews/photos as well. Those help a lot. There are even forums to search on, chat with people, and message them individually.

I would personlly recommend any of the Sandals or Beaches resorts (Beaches allow kids/families) if you like the all-inclusive thing. I have just booked our honeymoon to Sandals Grande St. Lucian and am super excited!!!
Reply:My husband and I stayed at the Sandals Nagril In October 2005...The Resort is as good as you will get on the island... We found Jamaica to be expensive, hostile and would not return ...The food at Sandals is good enough...The pool is pretty but I noticed that the people;e sitting at the bar in the water never got up to use the restroom......Yuck!..I would seriously reconsider going to Jamania..we just got back from a beautiful vacation at the Conrad Hilton in Bali...now there is a fabulous resort.

I have nothing against Jamaica or Jamacians, it did not feel safe and there is not much to do without a guide
Reply:I've heard Sandals is awesome - I know people who go back every year because they just love it. I've heard it's not worth leaving the resort (and it's not safe), so if you're not planning on sight-seeing you might be better off spending your money on an all-inclusive somewhere else (since airfare to Jamaica isn't cheap!)

I've also read that if you stay at a resort in Jamaica, the majority of food and supplies are actually coming from Miami, so you're not really supporting the Jamaican community (unfortunately).
Reply:I have. Jamaica is a great place to vacation. And Negril is perhaps the best place to go when there. Remember that it is rainy (hurricane season) there. It will rain almost everyday there, but it won't rain all day. For example, it might be sunny and hot all day, then around 2:00pm it will rain (or pour) and then it will be done.
