If your kids are wearing sandals, do u let them play barefoot at a McDonald's Playplace or do u bring socks?

I'm pretty sure these areas require kids to take their shoes off so no one gets injured. If they are wearing sandals without socks, do you bring a pair of socks for them to put on or do you just let them go barefoot?

If your kids are wearing sandals, do u let them play barefoot at a McDonald's Playplace or do u bring socks?
The worst horror stories about the ball pits aren't true; see the link someone posted earlier. However, I think it's silly to require socks 'against germs' in such a playground; kids are *all over* the playground, the balls, the slides, the floor... touching it all with their hands, bare arms, bare legs (at least in summer), even sometimes laying down and getting their face on the floor or among the balls. What huge difference does it make to put socks on and protect such a small bit of skin while leaving so much of their skin bare? If anything it makes them more likely to slip and fall; socks are slick, bare feet are not. The germs are a concern on hands and face far more than on the feet; the skin is made to keep pathogens out, unless they lick their feet it's not going to hurt them to get dirty. Some measure of dirtiness is even healthy. It's sad so many folks in the US are so afraid of going barefoot or letting their children go without shoes even on playgrounds, because it's quite good for the feet!
Reply:wow, well they do not have the ball pits any more, i have five children 3 are teens and the little ones are 1 and 2, bring sox, let them play and enjoy, don't panic about all these stories, my three older boys loved playing there, if you want to keep them safe only go for ice cream and let them play off the sugar, leave the food alone, that is the danger, not the playground,
Reply:I would NEVER let my kids play in a ball bit, even though when I was a little one I loved it so much.
Reply:I would bring socks. Our McDonalds does not have a playplace anymore, so we don't go there. There is another play place that we go to, and the kids cannot play unless they have socks on.
Reply:i would bring socks but also you can buy socks at mcdonalds they have them in the back. i use to work at mcdicks
Reply:The story of a kid dying of a needle in McDonalds is NOT TRUE. Check out snopes.com before spreading that kind of thing please.

My kids always wear socks. I wouldn't want them to get warts.
Reply:I never did let my son play in that at mcdonalds or anywheres like that because i always though what if he gets up there and smothers or something like that.

Then i found this on the internet last year and i saved it, well copied and pasted it:

McDonalds, Chuck E Cheese, Discovery Zone, etc...

Some of you might not be parents, but you may have nieces, nephews, grandchildren or friends with children.

This will pertain to you too.

As I read the following, my heart sank.

I urge each and every one of you to pass this on to as many people as you can.

I cannot stress how important this is!

This is very disturbing news.

In addition to the following true story...

Our son lost his watch, and was very upset.

We dug and dug in those balls, trying to find the watch.

Instead, we found vomit, food, feces, and other stuff I do not want to discuss.

I went to the manager and raised hell.

Come to find out, the ball pit is only cleaned out once a month.

I have doubts that it is even done that often.

My kids will never play in another ball pit.

Now read this:

PRETTY SCARY!!

Hi. My name is Lauren Archer, my son Kevin and I lived in Midland,TN.

On October 2nd, 1999 I took my only son to McDonald's for his 3rd birthday.

After he finished lunch, I allowed him to play in the ball pit.

When he started whining later on, I asked him what was wrong,

he pointed to the back of his pull-up and simply said "Mommy, it hurts."

I couldn't find anything wrong with him at that time.

I bathed him when we got home, and it was at that point when I found a welt on his left buttock.

Upon investigating, it seemed as if there was something like a splinter under the welt.

I made an appointment to see the doctor the next day, but soon he started vomiting and shaking,

then his eyes rolled back into his head.

From there, we went to the emergency room.

He died later that night.

It turned out that the welt on his buttock was the tip of a hypodermic needle that had broken off inside.

The autopsy revealed that Kevin had died from a heroine overdose.

The next week, the police removed the balls from the ball pit.

There was rotten food, several hypodermic needles: some full, some used; knives, half-eaten

candy, diapers, feces, and the stench of urine.

If a child is not safe in a child's play area then where?

You can find the article on Kevin Archer in the October 10,1999 issue of the Midland Chronicle.

Please forward this to all loving mothers, fathers and anyone who loves and cares for children!

Don't think it's just McDonald's either or that this is something that just started.

When my oldest son who is now 9 was small the area Burger King closed their play area for awhile for

remodel because in another town there had been an incident similar to the one described above that happen @ a Burger King.

A little boy had been playing in a ball pit %26amp; started complaining of his legs hurting.

He later died too.

He was found to have snake bites all over his legs %26amp; buttocks.

When they cleaned the ball pit they found that there was a copperhead nest in the ball pit.

He had suffered numerous bites from a very poisonous snake.

Repost this if it scares the ____ out of you!

Repost this if you care about our kids!!!

AND FYI:

In Florida and other places on the East Coast a group of people are putting HIV/AIDS infected and filled needles

underneath gas pump handles, so when someone reaches to pick it up and put gas in their car, they get stabbed with it.

16 people have been a victim of this crime so far and 10 tested HIV positive.

Instead of posting that stupid crap about how your love life will suck for years to come of you don't re-post, post this.

It's important to inform people, even if you don't drive, a family member might, and what if they were next?

CHECK UNDER THE HANDLE BEFORE YOU GRAB IT!!!

IT MIGHT SAVE YOUR LIFE!

(I do not know how true it is)
Reply:I won't let my daughter play in that germ infested "playground". If you must let your child go in there I would make them wear a pair of slippers.
Reply:I'd have my child wear socks I think. You never know what types of germs are lingering around a McD's playplace.
Reply:When I was younger my Mom would let me just kick off my sandals and play at McDonald's with the other kids in just my bare feet. Most of the kids there were barefoot.

From some of the posts I am reading here, I guess the world has changed. McD's probably makes a lot of money on socks nowadays.
Reply:The kids aren't supposed to be barefoot there. I have brought socks for my kids if they happened to have sandals, but if I forgot them, I always buy socks.

The floors aren't the cleanest there, so I can't imagine letting them run around in bare feet. Ick.

As for people mentioning ball pits... ours doesn't have one. It's one of those tunnel/tube/slide things. :)
