How do you get rubber sandals to stop stinking after you sweat in them.?

I have a pair of Keen Newport H2s. They are great sandals but after sweating in them the smell has become permanent. I can't wear them out anywhere anymore because I know others can smell it if I can. I tried bleach and setting them in the sun...didn't work. Other suggestions??

How do you get rubber sandals to stop stinking after you sweat in them.?
Baking Soda - - - sprinkle some on or even store in a plastic bag of Soda - - - Baking Soda contains the same elements as most odor-eaters. Good Luck, also use DAWN detergent to clean rubber sandals --- ---
Reply:Baby powder, baking soda, spray with cologne, air freshner or febreze, put odor eaters in them, set them in the sun. Good luck.
Reply:washing machine and double rinse, then dry in sun. that's the absolute best way.
Reply:keens are a great shoe... to pricey to toss too. try scubbing with a bit of baking soda and water , let it dry a bit a hit them with some white vinegar. it works for stinky sink drains and we tried it on teva's that had been used creek walking and it worked.
Reply:I would say try the freezer trick, sounds good and I will try it myself with my son's and my husbands.

* I wanted to add though that to keep them from smelling in the first place, wear them only every 3 days (ideal) or at least let them air out for 24 hours between wearings.
Reply:Put them into a large plastic bag and throw them into the freezer for a couple of days. Freezing will kill the bacteria that makes them stink.
Reply:Buy new sandals.

And wash your feet.
Reply:I think you are going to need new sandals. Look into products that reduce perspiration in the feet before wearing new ones. I used to get a scrip for mine but I think you can get stuff over the counter now. Happy to say I don't have that problem anymore.
Reply:baby powder or gold bond medicated powder but baby p[owder is much cheaper
Reply:This may sound strange but it works! Try squeezing lemon juice on them and use another decent cleaning product. Believe it or not lemon juice kills a lot of bad smells. I even bath in it
Reply:yeah get rid of them and get some new ones.
Reply:I have a pair of those Crocs that everyone is wearing now...I got them long before they caught on and now they are a "little" smelly. When they get like that I always put in them in the dishwasher to clean them and it will clean them well and make the smell go away and since they are rubber the wash won't hurt them!!! Hope this helps!!!
Reply:try washing them with Scope mouthwash

cant hurt
Reply:throw them in with the laundry.......
Reply:Try Febreeze. If that doesn't work, place them in a large bag and stick them in the freezer overnight. I don't know why, but it does work for smelly shoes.
Reply:Maybe try soaking them in soapy water for a while.
Reply:Throw them in the washer and add vinegar to the cycle.
Reply:Spray some cologne on the sandals every time you go outside.
Reply:are guys even supposed to wear sandals?
Reply:clean your feet
